Messages from coaches

When a coach sends a targeted message — say, a reminder to families who haven’t RSVPed yet, or a heads-up about gear for tomorrow’s race — it shows up in the Messages from coaches card near the top of your family page.

Reading

Tap a message to expand it. Once you’ve read it, hit Mark read and it shifts from highlighted (with a cyan stripe on the left) to plain. The three most recent messages are shown, newest first. Older ones are counted underneath but can’t be opened from the page — ask your coach to resend if you need one.

Where else messages appear

  • Email — you’ll also get it by email if the coach chose to send by email and your contact has alerts enabled. The subject line either matches what the coach typed or reads “Coach Name sent you a message.”
  • Telegram channel alert — if the coach chose to post a pointer alert in your Telegram channel, you’ll see a short note about a new message there, with a link back to your family page. The full message text never goes in the channel; you have to come back to your page (or check your email) to read it.

Replying

If the email’s Reply-To is set to the coach (the default), hitting Reply in your email client goes straight to the coach. If they sent the message as no-reply, replies bounce — talk to your coach by their normal channel instead.

The family page itself doesn’t have a “reply” button. The message card is one-way; treat it like a coach-to-family announcement.

Who else got the same message

A coach message can be addressed to:

  • all eligible families for an event,
  • just families with a specific RSVP status (yes / no / no response),
  • a specific family by name,
  • a combination of any of these via the include + exclude builder.

The page doesn’t tell you who else received it — by design, so families can be addressed individually without others seeing the list.
